Library

Welcome to the Library Page!

Alexandria is our on-line library catalog (click on ALEXANDRIA in left column).  We've also included some websites that may help you. Click on LINKS (above).

In the primary grades, we read from a variety of genres in class to introduce reading as a fun past-time.  Library/information terminology is introduced in each level and library skills become more difficult as students move through the grades. In fifth grade, we discover many information sources that become the building block for research as the student progresses through middle school and high school.

Battle of the Books is a reading competition for 4th and 5th grades. It is held at CESA #12 at the beginning of May. Contact Margo Smith if you are interested.

Library Class-Grade 4

In fourth grade library skills class, we explore the various genres of literature to encourage students to try new types of fiction. Each month, from October to May, a different genre will be featured. We start the series with humorous novels.

Students are expected to read a novel at their reading level, in the assigned genre, and do a project at the end of the month. The projects are designed to be simple and maybe even a little fun.

The novel does not need to be from the school library.

I've added more information in the FORMS section at the top of this page.
